The main goal of this course is to provide students with a solid foundation in marine weather forecasting, including the basic concepts of meteorology and oceanography, tools and techniques used for marine weather forecasting, and how to interpret and use marine weather forecasts. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Interpret weather maps and charts
  • Use numerical weather prediction models to forecast marine weather
  • Identify and mitigate marine weather hazards
  • Apply marine weather forecasting techniques to real-life scenarios
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively in marine weather forecasting
